🔥 Recommended Heat Settings for 180GSM Laminate

For standard 180gsm laminating pouches, start with a laminator temperature of ≈ 248 °F (≈ 120 °C).

Some manufacturers list about 240 °F (≈ 115 °C) for films as a working range.

If after lamination the pouch appears cloudy or not fully sealed, you can try raising the temperature slightly (in small increments) until the film bonds clearly and smoothly.

Conversely, if the laminate comes out warped, bubbled, wavy, or with heat-warping, the temperature is likely too high — reduce it until you get a smooth finish.

✂️ Recommended Cutter Settings & Tips for Laminated Sheets

When cutting laminated sheets with a Cricut or similar cutter, default sticker-paper settings are often not sufficient. Because the laminate adds thickness and rigidity, you’ll want settings that give the blade more force.

Here’s what to try:

Setting / Item Recommendation
Material Setting Use a thicker material type: “Heavy Cardstock”, “Poster Board”, “Matte Paper”, or similar — instead of standard “Vinyl” or “Sticker Paper.”

Pressure / Cut Force Increase pressure from default to “More” / higher pressure to cut through laminate + paper + backing.

Blade Type Use a Fine-Point blade (or equivalent) if only cutting thin laminated sheets; if the laminate is thick or your cutter allows, consider a deeper-cut blade.

Cut Mode - For kiss-cuts (laminate + sticker layer, backing left intact): choose a lighter setting (e.g. “Vinyl” or “Light Cardstock”) but still check cut depth.

- For die-cuts (cut all the way through + backing): use the heavier material setting with increased pressure.

Mat Type / Grip Use a StandardGrip or StrongGrip mat for laminated sheets — laminate adds stiffness, so paper may shift on a LightGrip mat. Optionally tape edges before cutting.

Test Cut First Always run a small test cut to confirm settings are correct before cutting a full sheet. Laminated sheets require more force and may behave differently than plain paper.

Tips for better results:

Use a new or sharp blade — laminate wears down blades faster than plain paper, and a dull blade causes rough edges or incomplete cuts.

If your laminated sheet includes a glossy laminate over registration marks (for Print-Then-Cut), you may need to avoid laminating over those marks so your cutter can still read them.

After cutting, flip the cutting mat over and roll off the sheet instead of peeling — this reduces curling or stress on the laminate and backing.
